CyberCrimeKeyboardA team of U.S. Secret Service and FBI agents emphasized the importance of public-private efforts in the fight against cyber crime during a Financial Services Roundtable forum held Monday in Washington.

The agencies held a joint presentation at the event to offer their audience information on the various hacking phases, data breach incidents and collaborative programs to curb threats, FBI said Thursday.

FSR held the event to mark National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

“Partnership is the key to any type of [long-lasting] cyber investigation and cyber team work,” said Robert Anderson, FBI executive assistant director.

FBI Assistant Director Joseph Demarest Jr. recommended that financial services companies establish internal response teams and cyber points of contact with the federal government.

Representatives from FBI and Secret Service also discussed the U.S. government’s partnership with international law enforcement agencies to execute the Trident Breach, Ghost Click, GameOver Zeus and Coreflood cyber investigations.
