Veterans Affairs Department logoGlen Grippen, a long-time administrator at the Veterans Affairs Department, will lead the agency’s Phoenix healthcare system as director, Army Times reported Wednesday.

Dennis Wagner writes Grippen will succeed Glenn Costie as head of the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center and its satellite clinics in Arizona.

Lisa Freeman, acting network director, told the publication Grippen “will guide the Phoenix VA healthcare system as we continue to improve access and the quality of care for veterans in the Phoenix area.”

He will occupy the role for one year instead of the prescribed three-year term, according to the report.

Grippen previously served as director of VA’s hospital in Milwaukee and as an assistant deputy undersecretary at department headquarters, Army Times reports.
