BudgetPresident Barack Obama on Friday signed an executive order to raise federal civilian employees’ minimum wage by 1 percent in the coming year, Federal News Radio reported Saturday.

Julia Ziegler writes the order also implements a 1-percent salary increase for commissioned and enlisted military personnel.

The military pay hike will take effect Jan. 1, while the new pay rates under the general, executive, foreign service and Veterans Health Administration schedules will reflect “on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after Jan. 1.”

U.S. locality pay rates will remain at 2014 levels, according to the radio station.
