Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Director Arati Prabhakar has outlined the organization’s projects designed to maintain U.S. technological advantage, ahead of a testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, USA Today reported Thursday.

“The only thing that keeps me awake at night is the question of whether we are so comfortable with our knowledge that we aren’t taking the actions that are needed to keep that edge,” she told the publication.

Ray Locker writes that Prabhakar plans to utilize the proposed $3 billion budget for DARPA in fiscal 2016 to focus research efforts on electromagnetic spectrum, maritime agility and big data technologies.

DARPA highlighted these programs in its “Breakthrough Technologies for National Security” review for HASC, Patrick Tucker of Defense One reports.

Steven Walker, the agency’s deputy director, said that DARPA’s overall goal is to bring down the price of weapons and other defense technologies as it pursues the Upward Falling Payload, Distributed Agile Submarine Hunting and other programs.

Tucker writes that Prabhakar also pointed to new space investments like the Airborne Launch Assist Space Access program.
