Profile: Niall Brennan, CMS’ Chief Data Officer and Director for Enterprise Data, Analytics

Niall Brennan serves as chief data officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and as director of the agency’s enterprise data and analytics office.

In this role, he leads data gathering and dissemination efforts across the agency as well as programs aimed at helping the agency leverage data to address U.S. healthcare delivery and cost issues.

He also supervises the publication of CMS research and analysis reports and works to ensure that external healthcare researchers have access to the agency’s public data sets.

Brennan also held positions at the Brookings Institution, Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, Congressional Budget Office, Urban Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He graduated from University College Dublin in Ireland and holds a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.

The Government Accountability Office has found that the U.S. Air Force intends to start fielding in fiscal 2020 new Combat Rescue Helicopters to replace aging HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters that have recorded the most flight time when it comes to staff recovery missions. GAO said in a report published Thursday the service will initially deploy the new helicopters to the active component six years ahead of the reserve component and to the Air National Guard by 2027.
