Federal Chief Information Officer Tony Scott has launched a program that asks the federal workforce for suggestions on how to solve the government’s information technology issues, Federal Times reported Friday.

Aaron Boyd writes Scott has formed the federal government’s first challenge intended to identify problems within the government.

The first CIO Council IT Solutions Challenge will have working groups within the IT and IT acquisition communities who will seek to address the federal government’s IT needs, according to the report.

Agencies will nominate IT and acquisition employees at GS-9 through GS-13 levels to work on the challenge for six months, Federal Times reports.

The working groups are scheduled to complete their task by fall and start collaboration with IT leadership to implement these services at their respective agencies, Boyd reports.
