White Paper Explains DHS’ Proposed Govt-Industry Cyber Risk Data Repository

1 min read

cybersecurityThe Department of Homeland Security has published a white paper that examines the potential role of a cyber incident data repository in public and private infrastructure security efforts.

DHS envisions the repository working to allow federal agencies, enterprise risk owners and insurers to analyze and share cyber risk trends.

“This information sharing approach could help not only enhance existing cyber risk mitigation strategies but also improve and expand upon existing cybersecurity insurance offerings,” the department noted.

DHS added a cyber incident data and analysis working group believes an ideal repository would address security, legal and privacy concerns in multiple industries.

The working group also thinks such a data storage platform could encourage insurers to offer insurance coverage products based on their customers’ security posture, according to the white paper.
