Army Lt. Gen. Alan Lynn has officially assumed his duties as the new director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and commander of the Joint Force Headquarters – DoD Information Networks.

DISA said Thursday a ceremony held at agency headquarters also highlighted the work of Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins Jr., the retiring former DISA director and JFHQ-DoDIN commander.

“Ronnie has done an absolutely outstanding job as commander here. He has set new things in motion,” said Terry Halvorsen, chief information officer of the Defense Department.

“I’m sure that Al is going to continue those and set his own new things in motion.”

Lynn has held the position of chief of staff and vice director at DISA and served on the U.S. Army‘s network operations, signal and communications organizations.

Also present at the ceremony was Lt. Gen. James McLaughlin, deputy commander of U.S. Cyber Command.
