Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins, director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, is stepping down from his role and retiring from military service Thursday, C4ISR & Networks reported Monday.

Amber Corrin writes that DISA Vice Director Maj. Gen. Alan Lynn will succeed Hawkins alongside a promotion to the rank of lieutenant general.

Hawkins has led DISA since January 2012 and served in the U.S. Air Force and Defense Department for nearly 40 total years of service.

Lynn, meanwhile, has held his position since September 2013 and will also be commander of Joint Force Headquarters – DoD Information Network when he assumes the role of DISA director.

Corrin reports that Lynn’s previous service includes leadership of the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command and work as DISA’s chief of staff.
