Marcel Lettre, acting defense undersecretary for intelligence since May, has been nominated to serve in the role on a full-time basis, the White House said Wednesday.
Lettre also currently serves as principal deputy undersecretary for intelligence, a role he started in October 2013.
He previously was a special assistant to the defense secretary from 2011 to 2013 after two years as principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs.
He was also a professional staff member of the House Intelligence Committee and a senior policy analyst with the Congress-established Deutch Commission.
Lettre has worked in the private sector as an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and a senior staff assistant in the office of the president of American University.
