FAA Names Earl Lawrence, Dave Vos Drone Registration Task Force Co-Chairs

droneA new Federal Aviation Administration-formed task force will convene this week to develop requirements and policies for an unmanned aircraft system registration system in the U.S., FCW reported Monday.

Mark Rockwell writes Earl Lawrence, director of the UAS integration office at FAA, and Google‘s Project Wing lead Dave Vos will serve as co-chairs of the group.

The Transportation Department and FAA enlisted representatives from Amazon, GoPro and Walmart to join the task force.

NASA and the Office of Management and Budget as well as the departments of State, Defense, Homeland Security and Interior support the initiative.

Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx has said he expects the task force to have its policy recommendations ready by Nov. 20.
