GSA Seeks New Headquarters Building for Labor Department

1 min read

Labor Department DOLThe General Services Administration has kicked off the search for a new facility that will serve as the Labor Department’s headquarters.

GSA said Monday it currently explores a possible exchange of the existing DOL headquarters and the nearly 10.5-acre parcel of land for a new space with approximately 850,000 square feet to 1.4 million rentable square feet.

The department intends for the new building to consolidate its “real estate footprint” in Washington D.C., and save costs that would otherwise go to renovations, GSA added.

DOL is currently headquartered at the Frances Perkins Building.

GSA said the 41-year-old building needs an upgrade to its heating, electrical, plumbing and elevator systems.

The agency released a notice of intent and a request for expressions of interest in support of this effort.
