Randall Coleman, an 18-year FBI veteran and former assistant director of the counterintelligence division, has been named executive assistant director for the bureau’s criminal, cyber, response and services branch in Washington.
He will manage the organization’s cyber crime investigations globally as well as its victim assistance and critical incident response programs in his new position, the FBI said Tuesday.
He joined the bureau in 1997 as a special agent at the Phoenix division’s Kingman Resident Agency, where he oversaw multi-agency criminal and domestic terrorism cases, on-scene fugitive investigations, kidnappings and homicide incidents.
He became a program manager of the counterespionage department in 2002 and served as counterintelligence program coordinator and squad supervisor, as well as assistant special agent focused on national security programs at the San Antonio division between 2004 and 2010.
After that, he returned to FBI’s Washington headquarters to manage counterespionage cases and helped establish a public corruption task force at the Little Rock division.
Coleman held the role of deputy assistant director in the counterintelligence unit before he was promoted to the assistant director position in April 2014.
Prior to the FBI, he served as a U.S. Army officer for nine years.
