The Defense Department has launched an advisory panel with a two-year charter to help streamline the military’s acquisition process, Defense News reported Tuesday.Aaron Mehta writes Deidre Lee, a former director of Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy and previously a Office of Federal Procurement Policy administrator, will lead the Advisory Panel on Streamlining and Codifying Acquisition Regulations.
The panel will work to administer buyer and seller relationships in the acquisition system, sustain the financial and ethical integrity of defense procurement programs, protect the interests of DoD and remove unnecessary policies, according to the report.
AÂ final report to the defense secretary is due by the third quarter of 2018 and the panel is seeking public comments via the Internet, the report says.
