604px-US-ThriftSavingsPlan-Logo.svgIn May, the Obama administration will blow the dust off an online relic with the re-launch of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) website.

The site hadn’t been significantly updated or modernized since hitting the web in 1997.  The new page will seek to be more user-friendly, a tag-along to Obama’s goal of making the federal government more accessible and transparent to the public.

Since December, select TSP participants have been asked to weigh in on the site and the response has been predominately positive.

Some upgrades to the site include a messaging system, allowing users to ask questions of the TSP staff and information on how to handle major life changes from a financial point of view.  A concerted effort will also be made to ease the process for users who serve in the military.

A future upgrade is planned for later in 2010.
