Aneesh Chopra to Speak at NJTC Conference

AneeshchopraThe nation’s first federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will be speaking at the Feb. 26 New Jersey Technology Council Conference to share his views on the current administration’s commitment to the technology community.

Chopra, who was appointed to the position of CTO in last April, knows a great deal about technology. Prior to his current position, he served as Virginia’s secretary of technology and helped develop a modern website, using social-networking tools. He has also been an leading advocate in employing online tools, like iTunes, for educational purposes.

In addition to Chopra’s keynote speech at the event titled “Cloud Computing: Harnessing the Future,” the NJTC will give out the 2010 CIO of the Year award. The award honors a chief information officer or an executive in an equivalent position for his or her innovation and creativity in planning and deploying their enterprise systems, future IT goals, management philosophy and service to the industry and community.

The event will also focus on how companies are using the cloud to increase IT output while reducing infrastructure, application development and deployment at the same time. In addition, it will feature a CIO panel discussion about best practices, how to transform IT with cloud computing, and discussions with panelists.

Four CIO of the Year finalists will be honored and will be available to speak with conference attendees. They include Jo Ann Saitta, senior vice president of IT at PDI, Inc.; Glenn Mamary, vice president and CIO at Hunterdon Medical Center; Steve Lerner, vice president of IT at Celgene; and Eugene W. Grochala, CIO at Capital Health System.

The event takes place Feb. 26, 2010 at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswich, N.J.
