DOE Hosts Annual Small Business Conference

energy_windmills_copenhagenThe Department of Energy is hosting its 11th Annual Small Business Conference and Expo, but this year is different from the past. The conference has a record number of attendees at the conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Annual Small Business Conference and Expo started yesterday, May 10, 2010 and will run through May 12, 2010. The U.S. Department of Energy, the largest civilian contracting agency, has drawn more than 1,700 participants this year.

The goal of the conference and expo is to present information to small business across the country to help them take advantage of subcontracting and grant opportunities, contracting openings, as well as benefit from Recovery Act funding.

Department of Energy Secretary Chu said, “We are encouraged by the many success stories of small business that we work with every day. Small businesses are the building blocks of the emerging clean energy economy, and their innovation helps drive the advances of clean technology.”
