To curb homelessness, the head Cabinet secretaries from the U.S. Inter-agency Council on Homelessness proposed a strategy that would develop partnerships among the government and outside organizations to help put an end to the issue.Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki were the lead promoters of the initiative that aims to end chronic homelessness for families and veterans. It includes developments in healthcare, housing, employment and education.
“Working together with Congress, state and local officials, faith-based and community organizations, and business and philanthropic leaders across our country, we will harness public and private resources to build on the innovations that have been demonstrated at the local level nationwide,” Donovan said.
The plan is called “Opening Doors” and plans to end homelessness for veterans and chronic homelessness by 2015 and children, families and youth by 2020.
Today, the council will host a webinar to outline a comprehensive strategy with other officials.
“No one should be without a safe, stable place to call home and today we unveil a plan that will put our nation on the path toward ending all types of homelessness,” Donovan said.
This “NEW” program is just more of the exact same failed programs as before; more jammed-packed prison-like shelters, more forced religion & conversion to the 12-Step Religious Cult, labeling every veterans seriously mentally ill, addicted, and alcoholic FOR LIFE in their medical records.
