The Defense Department has announced Richard T. Ginman will take over as director of the department’s acquisition policy shop.

Ginman replaces former Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy Director Shay Assad, who was named two weeks ago to a special position specifically focused on Pentagon pricing

Ginman most recently served as deputy director for program acquisition and contingency contracting, within the DPAP office, a position he was appointed to in March 2010.

In February 2008, he was named Assad’s principal deputy. Ginman served as his principal adviser for all contracting and procurement policy areas including program acquisition strategies, incentives, program execution, peer reviews, contingency contracting and acquisition policy.

Ginman also has experience in the private sector, having served as a vice president of Maritime Information Systems for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.
