Obama Hosts Roundtable to Discuss Education, America’s Future

President Barack Obama recently hosted an educational roundtable with public and private sector leaders to discuss ways to ensure an a competitive American workforce. Obama stressed the importance of education and how it plays a crucial role in America’s future.

“America’s business leaders understand that when it comes to education, we need to up our game,” Obama said. “That’s why we’re working together to put an outstanding eduction within reach for every child.”

Corporations are backing the president’s focus on improving education with financial support. They have committed to investing in programs such as Change the Equation, Skills for America’s Future, and the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

The four big commitments announced at the roundtable include:

  • Community engagement and investment to transform U.S. lowest-performing schools
  • Expanding opportunities for students to prepare for livable wage jobs
  • Research and development for next-generation learning models and resources for students and teachers
  • Supporting a statewide focus on education system redesign
