The House Intelligence Committee plans to mark the ten-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by holding public hearings on the threat of terrorism, AFP reported Wednesday.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and an unnamed CIA official will appear before the committee Sept. 13. FBI Director Robert Mueller and National Counterterrorism Center Director Matt Olsen will appear Oct. 6.

The hearings will focus on the status of al Qaida and other terrorist groups, as well as the threat of homegrown terrorism.

“The ten year anniversary of 9/11 is an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in the intelligence community in the past decade,” said Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), committee chairman.

AFP reports the Sept. 13 hearing will be a joint session with its Senate counterpart. The panels last held a joint session ten years ago to probe intelligence failures in the wake of the attacks.
