Vivek Kundraâs last day as federal chief information officer was Friday. He will serve a joint fellowship this fall at Harvard University.
Kundra posted a 12-page paper on Harvardâs website Monday, covering his nearly 10-year career working in local, state and federal governments.
Prior to joining the White House, Kundra served two years as chief technology officer for the District of Columbia.
Kundra has also served as Virginiaâs assistant secretary of technology and commerce and as director of information technology for Arlington County, Va.
GovInfoSecurity.com reports Kundra spent most of the paper discussing programs he helped foster as federal CIO. Kundra also discussed securing government IT systems and how cybersecurity does not stand in the way of government efficiency.
âDone the right way, using more nimble, flexible, modern technology enhances security by freeing the government from decaying infrastructure and custom-made applications written in obsolete computer languages even pre-dating the personal computer revolution,â Kundra wrote.
