Congress to Mark 10 Years Post-9/11 w/ Public Hearings on Intel, Security This Week

In its second week post-recess, Congress has committees scheduled to hold public hearings marking the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the House Intelligence Committee is scheduled to hold a joint public hearing with its Senate counterpart marking the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and CIA Director David Patraeus are scheduled to testify during the open intelligence hearing. This will be the first time Patraeus testifies publicly in his new role as CIA director.

At 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will consider if the nation is safer 10 years after 9/11. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, FBI Director Robert Mueller, and National Counterterrorism Center Director Matthew Olsen are scheduled to testify.

Mueller and Olsen are scheduled to testify Oct. 6 before the House Intelligence Committee.
