The Defense Department is planning to set up an intelligence-gathering hub at the former Bethesda, Md. home of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The Army Corps of Engineers and the Defense Intelligence Agency are working on the large-scale project, which could take nearly five years. The corps, responsible for the military’s real estate projects, is showing its plans to local groups, according to the Business Journal report.

An estimated 3,000 workers would move to the former NGIA campus, located off MacArthur Boulevard and Sangamore Road. The NGA completed its move to a site near Fort Belvoir, Va. in September as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process.
