Aneesh Chopra has rejoined The Advisory Board Company as senior adviser of health care technology strategy, the company announced Friday.

Chopra will work with member hospitals on integral technology and open data issues.

The company said he will also contribute to the company’s business development and strategic planning efforts.

Chopra previously served as U.S.’s first chief technology officer for nearly three years before stepping down in January.

Before accepting the position as CTO, Chopra worked as managing director of the Advisory Board from April 1997 to January 2006.

“I am excited to return to The Advisory Board Company, where I spent close to a decade of my career,” Chopra said in a release. “The firm has always been dedicated to identifying and disseminating best practice research.”
