The House Oversight Committee has released the latest version of a federal cybersecurity bill, Federal News Radio reports.

The bill updates the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, according to a statement on the committee’s website.

FISMA aims to improve on information technology systems framework, security oversight, and regular assessments of possible threats.

The committee has not formally introduced the bill but posted a preview on its Madison website for public review.

To date, several cybersecurity bills have been introduced by both the House and Senate but remain in limbo.

A bipartisan group of senators has proposed the Department of Homeland Security take the lead in protecting critical infrastructure from cyber attacks.
