1 min read

The Department of Health and Human Services has appointed veteran Maryland and D.C. government technology executive Bryan Sivak chief technology officer, Fedscoop reports.

Sivak will join HHS next month and succeeds Todd Park, who was appointed U.S. CTO in March.

Sivak will also serve as HHS’ tech entrepreneur-in-residence, according to Fedscoop.

He has served as Maryland’s CTO since April 2011 and served in the same capacity for the District of Columbia prior to that.

His private sector experience includes co-founding international software firm InQuira Inc. in 2002 and Electric Knowledge LLC in 1998, which started providing a natural language search engine on the Internet in 1998.

According to David Stegon’s report, this is HHS’ second major hire this year as Frank Baitman succeeded Michael Carleton as chief information officer in March.
