Panetta Addresses Singapore Forum On Communications With China

1 min read

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta spoke at a conference June 2 about how the U.S. and China can work together to solve mutual cyber and military issues, Defense News reports.

At the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Panetta said that it is important to focus on the difficult areas in cyber and information exchange.

He added that both countries should develop cyber and space technology standards and strengthen military contacts to improve transparency between the two countries.

Panetta also said that the continued correspondence, like last month’s visit by China’s defense leader Liang Guanglie, can improve communications and the U.S.’ military-to-military relationship with China.
