1 min read

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved an amendment to the defense authorization bill, which would cap defense contractor salary reimbursements at $230,700 per worker, GovExec reports.

That number is equal to the vice president’s salary and would be a nearly 70 percent cut from the current rate of $763,029, which was set in April.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) introduced the amendment to the fiscal 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, Charles Clark reported.

In the House, Rep. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.) introduced a provision that would have adjusted the cap to an amount equal to the president’s salary at $400,000.

The chamber rejected that amendment the House Armed Services Committee did not include it in its version of the defense authorization bill.
