Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, the Houseâs primary panel responsible for authorizing the funding for and overseeing the execution of the U.S. government’s intelligence activities.
He assumed the chairmanship in 2011 and was elected to the House in 2000.
Rogers and Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.), the committee’s ranking member, introduced a cybersecurity bill earlier this year that was passed by the full House.
Rogers has also brought attention to Chinaâs emergence, to threats posed by Iran and North Korea and is leading the Committeeâs work on the intelligence budget for 2013.
Before assuming the chairmanship, Rogers issued an Intelligence Committee report on Iranâs nuclear ambitions, authored a bill to protect against chemical and biological threats and co-authored legislation to reauthorized the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Rogers has served as an officer in the U.S. Army and as a special agent in the FBI.
