The nomination of Air Force Maj. Gen. Christopher Bogdan to lead the F-35 program will become official Thursday, program office spokesman Joe DellaVedova has told Defense News.

Bogdan, nominated in July, will succeed Navy Vice Adm. David Venlet and was also selected for promotion to lieutenant general.

Bogdan currently serves as deputy director of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program and will be succeeded in that capacity by Navy Rear Adm. Randolph Mahr, current head of the Naval Air Warfare Center’s aircraft division.

Civilian leadership for the program, on which Lockheed Martin is a prime contractor, is also set to change with Navy acquisition chief Sean Stackley set to succeed Air Force Michael Donley as the program’s senior acquisition executive.
