GAO said not having that data could result in DOT inaccurately estimating how many employees are needed to hit staffing targets.
In its findings, GAO said four out of 11 operating administrations would have to replace at least half of their contract specialists by the end of fiscal year 2013 to meet their targets.
DOT’s senior procurement executive needs the administrations’ support to help plan the department’s acquisition workforce but is not providing oversight of the administrations to determine if they have the data they need, GAO said.
