The government’s latest effort at performance management known as GEAR, Goals-Engagement-Accountability-Results, will be the subject of a Congressional audit.

According to a Federal Times article, the Office of Personnel Management is leading the program which was launched in late 2011 and is currently being tested at five agencies.

Reps. Darrell Issa and Blake Farenthold asked the Government Accountability Office to report on the program’s status and how it is working thus far.

The program is meant to open the dialogue between managers and employees by holding quarterly performance reviews and train supervisors to better manage their employees by holding mandatory training.
