The White House is still working out the specifics on how many non-Defense Department civilian employees will be furloughed if automatic cuts under sequestration take effect Friday, Federal News Radio reports.

Danny Werfel, the controller of the Office of Management and Budget, told reporters during a conference call that OMB has directed agencies to look at other actions such as reprogramming of funds.

Jason Miller writes the White House has detailed how many Pentagon civilian workers would be furloughed in each individual state with 46,000 of those employees in Maryland, 90,000 in Virginia and 13,000 in the District of Columbia.

Werfel told reporters that in one example, the government knows 47,000 Federal Aviation Administration employees will be furloughed but has not figured out the state-by-state impacts, according to Federal News Radio.
