GovExec reports Office of Federal Procurement Policy Administrator Joe Jordan spoke at a Professional Services Council-sponsored forum as part of an ongoing dialog with industry representatives.
Jordan told the audience of nearly 100 federal contractors that strategic sourcing contracts could help the government achieve its goal of awarding 23 percent of all federal contract work to small businesses.
Charles Clark writes Jordan described the government’s current buying approach as functioning as 130 separate medium-sized businesses.
The acquisition workforce at the front and back ends of the procurement process needs attention and Jordan told the audience he wants to align workforce skills and training with agency priorities, Clark writes.
