OMB Sequestration Report Highlights Account Level Cuts

budgetThe White House budget office detailed budget reductions at the account level in a report it submitted to Congress Friday on how agencies would implement cuts under sequestration, Federal News Radio reports.

Cuts at the program, project and activity levels were not included in the Office of Management and Budget’s report, according to the station.

Defense agencies will see a 7.8 percent total cut and civilian agencies will see a 5 percent cut for the rest of fiscal year 2013, according to Federal News Radio.

Within the defense space, each of the four military service branches will reduce between $11 billion and $12 billion total from the operations and maintenance accounts.

The Pentagon will cut $3 billion from its agencies’ operations and maintenance accounts, the report said.
