Report: White House To Furlough 480 OMB Workers

WhiteHouseNearly all employees at the Office of Management and Budget will be subject to 10 days of unpaid leave for the remainder of the current fiscal year under sequestration budget cuts, Politico reports.

Roger Runningen writes 480 OMB employees were notified of the furloughs, which average out to one day per pay period between April 21 and Sept. 7.

Bloomberg reports White House staff members such as advisers to President Barack Obama will also be subject to furloughs.

The White House is also cutting supply and equipment purchases, a White House spokesman said, Bloomberg reports.

Agencies are required to provide employees 30 days notice before any furloughs, the Washington Post reports.
