OPM: Some Unused Worker Furloughs Could Turn Into Vacation Time

1 min read

OfficeThe Office of Personnel Management has issued guidance that would alloow some federal workers to convert extra furlough days into additional paid vacations if an agency cancels required unpaid leave, GovExec reports.

Eric Katz writes this scenario could happen to those given flexibility to choose when they take their furlough days.

A worker could choose to take all furlough days up front and the employing agency could cancel or reduce the number of furloughs needed under that scenario, according to the report.

Those unused furlough days could then be substituted for annual leave, OPM said.
