OPM to Offer 300 Early Exit Options to Employees

Office of Personnel Management logo The Office of Personnel Management will offer buyouts and early retirement packages to 299 employees as part of the agency’s cost-cutting efforts, Federal Times reports.

Stephen Losey writes OPM Director Elaine Kaplan told employees in a May 31 agencywide email the workforce reduction is one of several strategies aimed at managing its budget.

Employees and organizations subject to the reductions will receive receive personalized emails with eligibility and application details by June 17, according to the report.

Federal Times reports it obtained an OPM chart that shows 129 buyouts in the agency’s human resources department and another 50 from the employee services division.
