Mary Davie: GSA Research Focuses on Cloud Brokerage Acquisition Support Role

1 min read

GSAThe General Services Administration last year worked with several government bodies to release a request for information that aimed to gain insights about cloud brokerage services in the public sector, FCW reported Friday.

Mary Davie, assistant commissioner at GSA’s office of integrated technology services, writes in a guest blog post the RFI aimed to find out ways on how to deploy cloud technologies across the government.

“Our current research is looking into each role and function and determining which, if any, are appropriate for GSA’s role in acquisition support for cloud procurement and services for the government,” Davie writes.

GSA plans to issue a solicitation under a proof-of-concept phase following discussions that focused on approaches and tools intended to help federal organizations implement the trading system.

Davie writes a majority of 140 participants from at least 60 affiliated businesses gave positive feedback on cloud brokerage in research that Gartner administered as part of the RFI.

Seventy-seven percent out of 81 respondents were in favor, 11 percent were impartial and 12 percent were against the concept.
