The Senate has confirmed Thomas Perez as labor secretary and Gina McCarthy as head of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
Michael Memoli writes Perez was approved by a 54-46 vote and McCarthy with a 59-40 vote.
Perez ‘s confirmation as labor secretary amid Congress’ plan to amend immigration laws in order to legalize millions of workers, according to the LA Times.
President Barack Obama nominated Perez in March to succeed Hilda Solis, whom Memoli reports will mount a campaign to serve on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Memoli writes the president has had all 11 of his Cabinet confirmations confirmed.
