Jessica Tozer writes the AFSC recently issued the Resiliency and Disaggregated Space Architectures white paper that provided details of what future space command programs will need.
Disaggregation increases “the number and diversity of potential targets, thereby complicating an adversaryâs decision calculus and increasing the uncertainty of successful attack,” according to the report.
The white paper describes disaggregation as dispersing functions or sensors across several orbital planes, platforms, hosts or domains, reports DOD Live.
That approach will aim to help protect software-based or radio-frequency-connected space systems from cyber threats and jamming, the report says.
Tozer writes disaggregating space systems is intended to reduce cost, enhance resiliency and boost capabilities.
