Dave Bennett: Pentagon Eyes IT Server Cuts by FY 2018

1 min read

DataCenterDave Bennett, the Defense Information Systems Agency chief information officer, has led a five-year program to establish cloud-based core data centers for a Defense Department-wide information network, Federal News Radio reported Wednesday.

Jared Serbu writes DISA is the sole provider of CDCs throughout DoD as the department aims to slash spending on the military’s information technology infrastructure throughout the continental U.S.

A Congressional Research Service report says the Pentagon aims to decrease the number of its IT servers and facilities by 25 percent and 30 percent this year, respectively, Serbu writes.

“There is a big effort underway right now to look at all the computing that is out there in the services,” Bennett, who is also DISA’s enterprise services director, told Federal News Radio.

“And that’s to be done by fiscal 2018,” Bennett added.
