DHS, GSA Detail Shared Services Plans

HTCphoneThe Department of Homeland Security will implement a shared service program next month and aim to ensure that mobile applications used across agencies are accessible and safe, FCW reported Thursday.

Mark Rockwell writes Keith Trippie, DHS executive director of the enterprise system development office, detailed the effort at a forum held in Washington Thursday and attended by federal shared services providers.

Trippie told the audience DHS also seeks to accelerate app development in other agencies, according to the report.

FCW reports the department will offer the service free of charge for the first 90 days after launch.

Anne Rung, associate administrator of the General Services Administration‘s governmentwide policy office, said her agency wants to move away from shared human resources services and focus on procurement, information technology and real estate.

Rockwell writes GSA seeks feedback on its plan to stop offering personnel management, benefits, retirement and training services.
