Air Force Establishes New Contracting Agency

Wendy MasielloThe U.S. Air Force is forming a new contracting agency as part of efforts to re-stock its numbers of contracting officers after losing experienced personnel in in 2012, Federal News Radio reported Thursday.

Jason Miller writes Brig. Gen. Casey Blake will serve as commander of the Air Force Contracting Agency and Tom Robinson, associate deputy assistant secretary for contracting, will hold the Senior Executive Service member role.

The Air Force plans to determine how to manage the workforce, acquisition processes and technical methods, as well as identify the software requirements for that installation contracting agency.

Maj. Gen. Wendy Masiello, Air Force contracting director, told a government procurement conference the agency was established on Oct. 1 and will start full operations in 2014, according to the report.

Masiello added the team is scheduled to hold its first meeting in November, Federal News Radio reports.
