Sylvia Mathews Burwell, director of the Office of Management and Budget, says federal employees have been prioritizing tasks since the government reopened after a partial shutdown, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

Joe Davidson writes Burwell told the newspaper Friday in an interview that furloughs could be a possibility this fiscal year on a case-by-case basis.

Burwell also discussed the recent shutdown’s impact on public trust, employee morale and recruitment.

She believes the shutdown could cause “issues with regard to maintaining high-potential people in the federal workforce and our ability to attract the greatest talent,” according to the report.

Burwell added the administration supports the budget resolution that increased federal worker salaries by 1 percent, Davidson writes.
