Gina McCarthy: EPA to Release New Rules for Renewable Fuel Use

Gina McCarthyThe Environmental Protection Agency is set to release new regulations for renewable fuel use in gasoline on Friday, Reuters reported Thursday.

Valerie Volcovici writes the EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard pending proposal has been with the Office of Management and Budget since Aug. 30 as the requirements have not yet been finalized.

Gina McCarthy, administrator for the EPA, said at a House Science Committee hearing Thursday that the RFS for 2014 will be proposed soon but will take some time to be concluded.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said at a different Washington event Thursday that he was not aware when the proposal will be ready and if the mandate on biofuels will be reduced, according to the report.
