Thomas Dorame: Cloud Shift for Network Exercise Affected Control

1 min read

CyberStockAn Army commander believes that a policy change to move network defense functions into a cloud environment during the Network Integration Evaluation exercise may have reduced control, Nextgov reported Friday.

Col. Thomas Dorame of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, told Nextgov he did not have the tools within his command during this year’s NIE to expedite and gain full control over network defense systems.

Bob Brewin writes the brigade required to fill out a trouble ticket to the Defense Information Systems Agency for action by the remote system.

Lt. Col. Lawrence Karl, officer in charge of the network operations center for the NIE, told Nextgov the brigade’s networks were handled by a cloud-based security system at Fort Gordon, Ga.
