1 min read

FCCSealThe Federal Communications Commission has postponed for a year its planned auction of low-frequency airwaves to wireless service providers, Reuters reported Friday.

According to the article, Tom Wheeler said in a recent blog post that FCC will be able to hold the spectrum auction in mid-2015 under its revised timeline.

Reuters reports the agency is preparing draft guidance for the auction, which intends for broadcast stations to voluntarily share their portion of the public spectrum with telecommunications firms.

Smaller carriers have urged the commission not to limit how much frequency they can acquire, according to the report.
