That list will be included in the Open Data 500 study, which will review how 50 of those companies use free, publicly-available data in their ventures, research, decision-making and problem solving processes, GovLab said Dec. 17.
âOur working list of companies reflects the fact that open government data is a key business resource for new and existing companies around the country, and is being used in a variety of ways and across many sectors,â said Joel Gurin, senior advisor at GovLab and director of the Open Data 500 study.
GovLab is soliciting comments and ideas from the public on the list and on the project itself ahead of the studyâs early 2014 launch as the foundation aims to assess the usability of open government data and initiate public-private dialogue to foster updates.
